Visit the NZ Maritime School Ship Simulator

Have a go at navigating a ship into or out of harbour. Maybe have a RHIB race in New York Harbour around the Statue of Liberty or speed under the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The NZ Maritime School has three full ship simulators and a marine engine room simulator.

The simulator will be open to Scout youth members from 10am Sunday 26 September. Registrations are essential.

The school offers places in their Diploma of Nautical Science and Diploma of Marine Engineering to students who have completed year 12 or 13 with NCEA Level 2.

The simulator appeared on the magazine programme Pacific Beat.

RNZN Recognition of Sea Scout Groups:

The Royal New Zealand Navy recognises Groups that meet the highest standards of Scouts New Zealand and seamanship.

The RNZN are sponsors of the award and the standards reflect those expected of the Sea Cadet Forces and naval training establishments.

Upcoming Events:

Take a trip on Auckland's historic steam tug William C Daldy.

 

Ports of Auckland are running tours aboard William C Daldy on 18 and 25 September at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

 

The tours are free but a gold coin donation is appreciated.

Visit the RNZN ships and the refurbished Navy Museum

Beat Retreat Ceremonial Sunset:

Date:  Saturday 9 October  
Time: 5:00PM
Place: Windsor Reserve, Devonport

There will be a Beat Retreat Ceremonial sunset.  This will involve the navy band, guards, and cultural group demonstration, march and display.  Firing a gun salute, and lowering the flag at the end of the day.

The much loved NZ Sea Scout Handbook is now  available here as PDFs.

3D Cutter:

The Marine Education Centre is developing a 3D Cutter in Google SketchUp. This will soon be available as a training tool for cutter construction.

 

 

The Marine Education Centre is accredited to deliver Coastguard Boating Education courses, principally the Day Skipper, Boatmaster and Marine VHF certificate courses.

Other CBES courses can be arranged and are available as required.
