  Maritime Restricted Operators Certificate  (MROC)

The minimum requirement for commercial operators and users of MF/HF (SSB) radio.


Aim: To learn correct MF/HF (SSB) radio operation.
Duration: 8 Hours/2 Hours for holders of Marine VHF Radio Operators Qualification.
Prerequisites:
None.
Qualification: Maritime Restricted Operators Certificate (MROC). Unit Standard 19492 available.

  GPS Operator

An advanced course to enable safe navigation and use of GPS.

Aim: To understand the principles and limitations, including use of chart plotters and techniques for more complex navigation tasks.
Duration: 8 Hours.
Prerequisites: Knowledge to Boatmaster level.

  Outboard Engine Maintenance

An essential course covering outboard care and trouble-shooting.

Aim: To gain essential knowledge on the operation and care of outboard engines.

Duration: 6 Hours.
Prerequisites: None.

  Sea Kayak

A short course covering sea kayaks, equipment, communication, emergencies, planning, weather, rules, and navigation.

Aim: To gain essential knowledge on sea kayaking and safety.
Duration: 4 Hours.
Qualification: Sea Kayak Certificate.
Prerequisites: Day Skipper or Boatmaster recommended.

  Club Safety Boat Operator

A practical on-water training course for operators of yacht club safety boats.

Aim: To increase safety and proficiency of safety boat operators, enabling better safety cover for sailors involved in yacht club activities.
Duration: 8 hours.
Qualification: Club Safety Boat Operator Qualification (Endorsed by Yachting NZ)
Prerequisites: Marine VHF Radio Operators and First Aid recommended. Powerboat Level Two recommended for craft powered by 25HP and above.
